Red Star Belgrade or as they are also known as 'Crvena Zvezda' are a football club based in Serbia. The club are the most popular team in the country and are recognizable all over the world for their extremely loud & intimidating atmospheres which they create every game, and in particular in European competitions.

The fan group who create such atmospheres are referred to as 'Delije' which can be roughly translated to 'Heroes' in English. The group was formed of multiple different groups sectioned throughout the North terrace of the stadium in 1989. Their powerful support has a strong influence on their own players but also on opposing players who will certainly be able to hear the Red Star fans, if that wasn’t enough they will be also able to see the large displays and use of pyro, flags & banners which go on repeatedly during 90 minutes inside the ground.

The Tunnel entrance to the stadium also symbolises the intense atmosphere created, with a long tunnel decorated in red star advocated spray paint and armed guards lined up throughout the tunnel, this combined with the hostile environment the 'Delije' fans create makes for a unwelcomed visit for any away fans. Proved by Danish legend Brian Laudrup who described the atmosphere as ‘terrifying’. The Red Star fans are so passionate about their team, that they strike fear into every away club who comes to play at the Marakana, accumulating in a victory for the team before a ball has even been kicked.

The Marakana is definitely a ground for the bucket lists of football fans, to witness a live game would be an experience to behold. The ‘Delije’ group of fans make the club one of the most feared especially in Europe and ensure that opposing teams must be at their best to take 3 points from them at their home.
