Milan tifo display - Curva Sud Milano

The term ultras was first ignited in Italy before being followed by many other countries so it is only right that the last and final club we focus on is AC Milan and their ‘Curva Sud Milano’ section which is the main supporter’s group for the club and are one of the oldest ultra groups in football and in Italy where the culture of ultras originated, and were always going to be included in a blog for football fans and ultras as they are a legendary club known worldwide by fans. AC Milan play at the San Siro stadium which is also uniquely the joint home of their city rivals ‘Inter Milan’ in the Iconic 75,817 capacity stadium admired by fans throughout Europe.

Milan when they were first founded were seen to be the working-class support of the city with one of their nicknames ‘Casciavit’ meaning screwdrivers, as opposed to the Inter fans who were deemed the upper-class side of supporters.

Milan Ultras are different to most like one of the previous blog posts in which they don’t have a political stance unlike a lot of ultras and they are an adoption of the previous group which was disbanded in 2005 named Fossa Dei Leoni (FSD). Despite this they never fail to make an impression on opposing teams who come to the San Siro, where you can come to expect large tifo displays from the Curva Sud Milano section to support the players on the pitch.

Until this season some would say Milan have been a missing figure when you look at their European presence in in the past with just the 6 European cups to their collection, this season has seen Milan reach the quarter finals of the champions league and will be very much backed by their die-hard supporters who want to see the club reclaim their throne of European football.
