Dortmunds Yellow wall

Borussia Dortmund are a football club based in Germany and are one of the most popular teams in the country if not the world. The team play at the Signal Iduna Park which is the largest stadium in Germany with a capacity of 81,359 and are known throughout Europe and the world for their incredible atmosphere and Colour on match days which is produced by their ‘Yellow wall’. A large majority of fans in Germany and the world seem to like Dortmund and the fantastic support they provide to the players, with a study claiming, ‘Of the 45 million people interested in football n Germany, 52% of them have a soft spot for Dortmund.’ An incredible feat for the 2nd biggest team in the country by many accounts behind Bayern Munich. Dortmund’s yellow wall also occupies the south stand which is the largest free standing terrace in Europe with a 25,000 capacity. This is where the fans who make the noise in the stadium are situated, particularly in Block 13 – where the ultras occupy.

Dortmund’s fans make themselves known regardless of home advantage or not, and are consistent in their support of the players in which they have the highest average attendances of any club in Europe with 80,000+ every week which is far superior to most clubs who are not always able to attract full attendances every week.

Dortmund’s fans also reflect the style of football the team play, as no matter who the manager has been recently since Jurgen Klopp –  a manager well known for high pressing football which is pleasing on the eye to watch. They have played attacking football which is exciting to watch even for a neutral fan, which is why most fans have a soft spot for them. But this exciting football works well with the fans in the stands who make the game more enjoyable for everyone at the ground, enabling the team and the supporters to work in unison to make the club better.
